How to clean your clogged ears with olive oil
73
I had a clogged ear for the first time in years just two weeks ago. It was putting a little pressure on my drum and was generally a huge annoyance. It had to be unclogged!
I used to get clogged ears more common so over the years had to find a cheaper alternative to over the counter ear wax removing fluid. It can be darn expensive!
Luckily olive oil provides us a simple alternative to unblocking lighly blocked ears and it feels quite nice.
So here is how to actually use Olive Oil to unclog those floppy blighters on the side of your head!
Before you start you need to wear old clothes or no shirt as the oil could get on it! You need some olive oil and some cotton wool, a tea spoon and a plastic beaker or cup. A pipette is optional
I am no medical professional so I can't be held responsible for you trying this and getting it wrong! Sorry!
1. put a few spoonfuls olive oil (grade is really quite unimportant!) in a small cup or plastic container.
2. Place in the microwave for 5 seconds just to slighly warm. Test a drip to make sure it really is just slightly warm! A burned inside ear would be a bad situation!
3. Get a small pippet (dropper) or just careful with a tea spoon and get some of the olive oil from the container.
4. Lay on your side and careful fill your ear with a few drops of oil. You will feel the slightly warm liquid go into your ear canal and start bubbling.
5. Lay on your side and leave it for a good 10minutes.
6. Get some cotton wool and place over your ear, slowly raise yourself up and lean the other way to poor the olive oil out.
Repeat this twice a day and hopefully your blocked ear will ease and disappear. If you ear really hurts or is badly blocked then you really need to visit the doctor or at least the pharmacy.

I hadn't heard of using olive oil but I do know that peroxide works well for dissolving ear wax. It's pretty much what's in the over the counter kits for ear wax removal.
